Old First Presbyterian Church
Mission Statement
Our vision is to become the people God intends us to be, maturing in Jesus Christ as witnesses of Christianity in our homes, church, community and abroad.
Old First Church is located in the vibrant and diverse community of Huntington, N.Y. As our church celebrates its 350th Anniversary, we are proud of a long history of faith and service within our denomination.
We are a community of believers proclaiming Christ in spoken word and living example, being renewed as disciples and stewards of all that has been given to us. We acknowledge our responsibility to address the challenges of our day, performing acts of kindness, helping those in need, working for social and economic justice, and supporting one another. We practice a life of prayer and service under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, affirming and sharing our spiritual gifts.
We seek to learn and teach the Christian faith so that it will permeate our lives through worship and fellowship. From our children, to our youth and adults, we want all people to feel part of our church family. We strive to be a welcoming church, demonstrating our love and care of one another and providing creative and diverse opportunities for fellowship. We seek to share our views and beliefs with one another and our community.
We are the integrated body of Christ, in which the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, and all parts are necessary to one another. In this unity, with Jesus as “the perfecter of our faith,” we are able to proclaim the Word and share the Good News of God’s promises with all people.
