Last week we observed Good Friday which is perhaps the most solemn observance during the entire year. On that morning, the Town of Huntington was having their Easter Egg Hunt about an hour before the service started. Concerned about parking, we sent our custodian outside to make sure that there was parking for our members. Unfortunately there was a lady who insisted on parking in our lot. She argued at length with the custodian, the rest of my staff, and finally myself. Finally she relented to move her car, and as she was leaving the parking lot she flashed me the finger.
While I was shocked and mad that she would do such a thing (I wish they had a class called fire and brimstone 101), as I sat through the Good Friday service, something occurred to me. Jesus died so this woman would be forgiven. Her anger, her inappropriate and rude action, and her confrontational attitude were all forgiven by the blood of Jesus Christ. Moreover, this lady is a sister in Christ, and she obviously has a lot of stress in her life to cause such an action. Also I am sure that there are people in this world who are upset at something I did, so we are really in the same boat.
My friends, Jesus died on the Cross for you and for your sins. Let us go forth from the Easter Season knowing that He is risen and we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.
