We are glad you are visiting us!

Our church, founded in 1658, is filled with the history of over three centuries of service as a church in the Huntington Community. The present colonial building was built in 1784 to replace the prior church torn down by the British to provide timbers for Fort Golgotha during the Revolutionary War.

Today Old First Church continues its journey of faith and ministry to the Huntington community while expanding its mission efforts and partnerships beyond the local area. These connections touch the lives of those in need nationally and globally through our Unified OFC Mission projects.

Sitting in the church on any given Sunday you can imagine the sermons and the conversations of past church members and visitors who came to this place during the over 300 years of its existence.  Its white steeple, still visible from the east on Lawrence Hill Road, continues to serve as a beacon for Huntington Village and its bell continues to toll every week to announce the beginning of our Sunday Service.

Brass plaques in the Sanctuary along with photos in the main hallway identify some of the pastors who have ministered to the people of Old First Church during its 350 year history.  In the showcase outside the church office, visitors can see the cracked bell taken by the British during the Revolutionary War. The bell was retired in 1967.   Other items from our archives organized by our Moles are on display. They bear witness to the growth and development of the Town of Huntington when town founders established “Old First Church” as a requirement under “the Duke’s Law.”

You are welcome to visit our church Monday through Friday between 10-2 or call to make an appointment.  Just park in our lot opposite Huntington Town Hall and come in the Parish Hall door and down the hall to the church office.  We will be happy to meet you and you can view our exhibits.

We invite you to join us on Sundays at 10AM in the sanctuary for worship. After the service refreshments are served in our Parish Hall.  Church school and child care are available. The sanctuary is handicap accessible.  Please come in the Parish Hall entrance on the parking lot side of the sanctuary and an usher will assist you.

We look forward to greeting you on Sunday. If you have any questions after viewing our site – please contact us by phone, fax, or e-mail.
